Alumni Honoured for Career and Volunteer Achievements at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.

Toronto - Three distinguished alumni of the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management were honoured last Thursday with Rotman Alumni Awards during a gala which kicked off the school’s signature Reunite at Rotman alumni homecoming event.

The three graduates have beenincredibly successful in their careers while giving back to their organizations and communities and exemplifying the Rotman values of diversity, excellence, respect and integrity.

Barry McInerney, BCOM '85, MBA '87, received the Rotman Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognizes a seasoned graduate’s significant contributions to their organization, industry, and community. In June 2022 he retired as President and Chief Executive Officer of Mackenzie Investments. During his six-year tenure, he more than tripled assets under management, doubled earnings, experienced record sales, and revitalized the culture, diversity, and purpose of Mackenzie Investments with a modern, future-oriented business model and leadership style. Recent awards include the CEO of the Year in 2020 by Wealth Professional, the number one ranking of CEOs in Canada in 2021 by Glassdoor, and the Alway Award in 2022 from St. Michael’s College (University of Toronto) in recognition of demonstrating the highest character in contributing to society through personal, professional, and spiritual leadership.

Prior to joining Mackenzie Investments, Mr. McInerney was Co-Chief Executive Officer of BMO Global Asset Management, responsible for BMO’s asset management businesses in the United States, Europe, Middle East, and Asia Pacific. He currently serves on the serves on the Rotman School’s Dean’s Advisory Board.

Dr. Rajeev Chib, EMBA '08, is the recipient of the Rotman Volunteer Excellence Award. The award recognizes the outstanding volunteer contribution of a graduate to the Rotman School and the University of Toronto. He is a seasoned capital markets professional with 25 years’ international experience with leading financial institutions based in Hong Kong, New York, and Toronto. He is the Regional Asia Head of Client Facilitation & Business Management across Investor Sales and Relationship Management at Citi Global Markets in Asia Pacific region. Dr. Chib and his team are responsible for partnering with Sales & Relationship Management and delivering Citi’s extensive investor client strategy across all products and geographies in the region within a risk-controlled framework. He is a member of the APAC Investor Sales & Relationship management team, and Co-Chair of the COO Markets committee of Asia Securities Industry & Financial Markets Association (ASIFMA). Before taking on his current position in October 2013, he was the Equities Business Unit Manager for Asia Pacific. In addition to the Rotman Executive MBA, he has a Doctorate in Business Administration from City University of Hong Kong,

Eliza Casinather, M/E MBA '15,received the Rotman Leader to Watch Award. This award recognizes a young graduate who is having a tremendous impact on their industry, and who has demonstrated a commitment to giving back to their community.  Casinather brings over 13 years of experience in strategic consulting, program delivery, human resources and technology across retail banking, capital markets, real estate, and people and culture. She has distinguished herself as a strategic and inclusive leader, a trusted advisor, and transformation catalyst. In her current capacity as the Director of Talent for CIBC’s Capital Markets group, she supports the global Capital Markets business in achieving strategic talent objectives, delivering profitability and growing the franchise. Outside her day job, she is a strong advocate for the advancement of women and underserved talent segments and serves on the Canadian Association of Urban Professionals’ Board of Directors, the Canadian Paralympic Committee Human Resources subcommittee and the Girls E-Mentorship Engagement committee.
