November 24, 2022

Toronto – Students from the Master of Management Analytics program at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management (Rotman MMA) performed well in recent international and national competitions winning one and finishing strongly in a second.

Juandiego Morzán, MMA’23, was the winner of the BBVA Data Challenge hosted by BBVA Peru, part of the global financial group BBVA. Over 700 participants in the online challenge provided their solutions for a real business problem through the use of machine learning and big data. Morzán submitted his proposal last month and was one of ten finalists selected to present on November 21.

The 7th annual data competition hosted by the University of New Brunswick’s International Business & Entrepreneurship Centre on November 18 attracted 136 participants from 56 teams including the team of Rotman students Pranav Sunil Kumar, MMA’23, Ojaswita Kalra, MMA’23, Manas Joshi, MMA’23, and Mitanshu Khurana, MMA’23. The competition consisted of three competitive events, data visualization, data analytics and data sprint, with both in-person and online participants. The Rotman team placed second in both the data analytics and data sprint events and placed third for their teaser poster in the data analytics event.
