Why did you decide to study the Graduate Diploma in Professional Accounting program?
As someone interested in pursuing my CPA designation, I wanted to gain a strong understanding of how to approach and analyze a case at the level expected for my professional examination. I also wanted to be better equipped with the skills ready for the workplace through this program. Finally, covering the CPA modules during the summer and not having to simultaneously complete them while working also provided me with further incentive to study the Professional Diploma in Professional Accounting program.
What are your main reasons for choosing Rotman?
I completed my undergraduate program at University of Toronto and had a great time. The opportunities provided to me by the campus, being in the heart of downtown Toronto and minutes away from the financial district, were immense. Many the professors that I met throughout my undergraduate were excellent teachers and were extremely helpful and the same set of professional, experienced, and helpful faculty teaches the courses at the GDipPA level. As such, I wanted to spend my summer at Rotman to build on my existing memories and continue to leverage the campus to become accustomed to the business environment in Canada.
What are you looking forward to most in the program?
I am looking forward to working with and learning from a wide variety of students from all across Canada and how their university experiences have differed from mine and using this to better reflect on my experiences and ways of learning. I am also looking forward to gaining a stronger grasp on how to analyze and approach cases in order to be able to provide an in-depth and effective response in both examination and workplace situations.
The Rotman Graduate Diploma in Professional Accounting (GDipPA) is a CPA Accredited 12-week summer program that helps prepare you for the Common Final Examination (CFE) and satisfies the four modules of the CPA PEP.
