Why did you decide to study the Graduate Diploma in Professional Accounting program?
I knew I was going to be starting full-time work in the Fall and wanted to power through the modules as fast as possible. I figured, that while the information was still fresh, I would be able to reinforce the concepts already learned and capitalize on that accelerated growth that comes with an intensive program like the GDipPA.
By finishing the program a little earlier (than my peers who are taking the module route), I would be able to enjoy the remainder of my summer as a reward for the all hard work I have invested into my education these past few years.
What are your main reasons for choosing Rotman?
Personally, I wanted to continue my education with the University of Toronto (UofT) family. I had a great undergraduate experience at University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) and know that UofT ranks very highly in terms of a quality education. I figured I can’t go wrong by picking the best :)
As well, the program was extremely well integrated with the UTM curriculum/teaching style. I had some of the GDipPA professors teach at UTM at the undergraduate level so there was a certain comfort level in already seeing the material/their teaching style before.
What are you looking forward to most in the program?
I am most looking forward to meeting new people! I am excited to meet other students from across Canada, and so far, it is clear that this year’s class is a very talented group. As well, getting to know the extremely knowledgeable professors and learning from them has been a great experience so far.
That being said, I am also looking forward to being challenged and learn a lot! We’ve started reinforcing our technical skills and merged it with case writing to properly start preparing for the CFE exams so I am excited to see my growth at the end of the program.
The Rotman Graduate Diploma in Professional Accounting (GDipPA) is a CPA Accredited 12-week summer program that helps prepare you for the Common Final Examination (CFE) and satisfies the four modules of the CPA PEP.
