Why did you decide to study the Master of Financial Risk Management program?

When I worked as a treasury analyst, I realized that risk is instrumental for the business. After talking with several MFRM alumni, I find out the Rotman MFRM program is an excellent opportunity for me to switch my career path. This is an intense program to equip me with not only technical knowledge but also practical experiences.

What were your top reasons for choosing Rotman?

I know Rotman is one of the best business schools in North America. There are great resources and opportunities from this open and diversified community. I am amazed by the opportunities to attend competition cases, tons of clubs, and speaker events.

What are you looking forward to most in the program?

I look forward to the Risk Management Project, which allows me to meet and work with finance professionals.

What do you expect to gain in your next 10 months at Rotman?

I expect to gain more technical knowledge, like doing projects with Python. I also hope to build meaningful relationships with talented students and professionals.

How have you found the online experience at Rotman?

I would say there is a learning curve, but everything is good by far. The good side for online learning is: first, it saves you time for the commute; second, you can always go back to check the recording if you missed something.

Did COVID-19 make you re-consider your decision to study this year, and if so, what made you decide to continue?

No, I don’t think COVID-19 made me re-consider the decision to pursue a master's degree. The pandemic proves the technology is the trend, and this program is also heavily involved with technology learning. We have courses using Python to do the project, which I find is helpful and relevant to today’s finance market.

The Master of Financial Risk Management is a full-time program designed to prepare ambitious young professionals for careers in risk management and finance.
