Following on from the success of an MFRM team in the TD case competition, another team of students MFRM students won the regional final in Toronto to advance to the international final of the PRMIA Risk Management Challenge.

The Professional Risk Managers' International Association Risk Management Challenge (PRMIA) is an annual international competition for students from multiple disciplines to use their critical and creative thinking skills to solve realistic business problems with a risk management focus.

The Toronto regional final was held on February 24, 2017 with seven teams competing for the title. Four of the teams were from the Rotman School’s first intake of the MFRM program.

Team Synergy from the Rotman MFRM program, with students Carmen Quiroz Vazquez, Zach Wang, Meng Zhu and Ava Athari (pictured above), placed first in the challenge and will advance to the international final of the PRMIA Risk Management Challenge in London, UK on April 7, 2017.

Another Rotman MFRM team, Team Rotmanagers, with students Judy Zhu, Zihan Liu, Jabir Sandhu, and Sijing Tao, placed second overall and also won the “most effective presentation” award. A third Rotman MFRM team, Team ‘The Invincibles’ with students Erica Wang, Jeffrey Du, Xuefei Yin, and Hanna Kalif, won ‘best strategy’ prize.

In the international final, Team Synergy will compete against the winners of regional rounds from London, Russia, Edmonton, Chicago, New York, Vancouver, Montreal, and Netherlands.
