Why did you decide to study the Master of Management Analytics program?

When the world went online, data too went electronic and henceforth there has been an explosion in the speed, variation, and amount of data. Consequently, this gave birth to a whole new dimension to data analysis and an opportunity to apply large-scale data analytics to the business world. Data intelligence could now be profitable on an international scale. To sort, analyze and turn this data into actionable insights is the core of data analysis.

The need for data analysis or the need to analyze data revolves around decision-making. Decisions are being constantly made and the choice of your decision almost always has a huge impact. Due to technologies like Hadoop and Storm that make it possible for us to tap into non- traditional datasets and integrate them with more conventional data, analysts can now exploit the process of data-driven decision- making. After reading numerous articles on predictive analytics and their use in the financial world especially on the popular website kdnuggets.com, I decided to return to school and pursue a Master’s degree, which would help me acquire the required skill set to further my career in the field of financial analysis.

What are your top reasons for choosing Rotman?

During my search to find the right program, the Master of Management Analytics (MMA) program at Rotman School of Management set itself apart from the rest for two significant reasons- its diverse student body, which includes students from varied academic and cultural background, and the freedom to choose my career path in the field of Analytics. This ultimately is the reason I decided that this program was the right one for me.

What are you looking forward to most in the program?

The most exciting part of the program is undoubtedly the practicum project which gives us the opportunity to “get our hands dirty with real-time data”. Getting the opportunity to work in an industry environment during the course gives us an additional benefit of understanding the business and how analytics is used to solve business problems. The Analytics Colloquia ranks next to the practicum project in terms of highlights of the MMA program. The Analytics Colloquia exposes us to learn and understand how data is used in real-business from the best in the industry.

The Master of Management Analytics is designed to give students the advanced data management, analytics and communication skills needed to become an analytics professional.
