Why did you decide to join the Master of Management Analytics program?

I practiced engineering for four years and somehow found myself spending the bulk of my office hours working with data, building business forecasts for oil and gas operations. I got really engaged with these activities and derived a lot of satisfaction from seeing how insights from company data tied directly into business performance. I decided before long that I was going to pivot my career towards management analytics and thus my Rotman journey began. The MMA program is my chosen route to acquire the necessary skills for management analytics professional practice. With the right blend of business knowledge, technical skills, and a practicum project where you put both to the test, the MMA program is the perfect vehicle for my career transition.

Top reason(s) for choosing Rotman:

I chose Rotman School of Management primarily because it stands out as one of the leading business schools in Canada, with a valuable network of alumni, faculty, and business partners. That was a very important consideration in my choice; as a new immigrant in Canada, growing my personal network rapidly is very important. In addition, I really like how the MMA program is structured. In this regard, the practicum project stands out and offers a unique business application perspective to in-class learning.

What are you looking forward to the most in the program?

I am really excited about the entire experience. It’s not any one piece for me, but if I must choose one element of the program it would be the opportunities to network with students, faculty, and industry partners. I reckon this would take various forms such as class activity teams, the practicum team, datathons, case competitions, and career fares—I look forward to all of it!

What do you expect to gain in your next 11 months at Rotman?

My expectations are to garner a wealth of technical data science skills (coming from a different academic domain) as well as an immersive experience in the Canadian business environment from the practicum. I intend to leave Rotman with a rich professional network and new friendships. I believe at the end of this 11-month journey I will be a well-rounded Management Analytics professional ready to take on the business world.
