Why did you decide to study the MFin program?

I knew that I wanted to further my education in finance and I was looking for a focused program that would leverage my existing education and work experience. A Master’s in Finance was the obvious choice to get the knowledge and confidence to apply for bigger opportunities.

What was your main reason for choosing Rotman?

I was attracted to Rotman’s MFin program because of the reputation of the great faculty.

The professors bring the perfect balance of academics and real-life experience to the classroom.  Additionally, the recent changes to the program to include a focus of the impact of technological innovations within finance was another reason why I chose Rotman.

What has been the highlight of the Rotman experience?

I would have to say my highlight was having access to the Finance Trading Lab and the Rotman Integrative Tool. Having access to a market simulator and practicing several different trading situations was a great way to learn and get practice. Another highlight of the program was building relationships with so many people, classmates and faculty. The opportunity to learn from my professors and classmates that have various backgrounds has given me more insight into different areas in finance.

Has Rotman and the MFin program met your expectations?

Completely. The program surpassed my expectations. The content so far has been interesting and already I’m seeing benefits at work from the program. But I was also pleasantly surprised at how the different classes were able to relate to each other so that the program flows well and is cohesive.

The programs comes with a lot of support from outside of the classroom. The faculty really try their best for the students to be successful in the program.

What would you say to someone considering choosing the MFin?

If you are looking for a program that you can do while still working, have access to great faculty and curriculum, then I would highly recommend the MFIN. I would say that it is a lot of work and requires commitment and dedication to juggle work and school, but the benefits far outweigh the efforts.

What are your future plans?

The program has given me the confidence to push my career further. I’ve spent over 10 years within Investment Operations and this program has given me the confidence to apply for roles within Investment Management.
