September 9, 2020 Webinar: Solving COVID-19 in South Asia and Globally – The Need for Government, NGO, and Business Action

September 9, 2020

The pandemic’s impact on Indian and other South Asian economies and health care has been dire, especially for the poorest. What are government, NGO and business leaders doing to address this health care and economic crisis?

India’s government, like many worldwide, adopted a demanding COVID-19 lockdown strategy. But challenged public health systems and limited preparedness, coupled with extensive misinformation, could not prevent a rise in infections. The pandemic’s impact on Indian and other South Asian economies and health care has been dire, especially for the poorest. What are government, NGO and business leaders doing to address this health care and economic crisis? How are health systems managing their operations and care delivery? And what role are regional and global businesses playing to drive both short- and long-term solutions? Finally, how should India and other economies think about long run impact of Covid-19 on human capital generation, given the continuing debates on reopening schools and academic campuses at the cost of concerns for public health?
