Two Rotman Executive MBA Graduates Named as “Best and Brightest.”

July 27, 2020

Toronto – Poets&Quants have named two recent graduates from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management to the list of the Best & Brightest Executive MBAs for 2020

Taya Cook graduated from the One-Year Executive MBA program in June. She is currently Director of Development with Urban Capital.

Dr. Kathryn Tinckam graduated in June from the Global Executive MBA for Healthcare and the Life Sciences program. She is a transplant kidney specialist and the program medical director in the University Health Network Laboratory Medicine Program.

They were among the 102 members of the Class of 2020 who comprise Poets&Quants’ annual list of the Best & Brightest Executive MBAs who were selected from 53 top programs from around the world. The graduates were selected for contributions to the class, academic performance, extracurricular involvement, personal intangibles, and unique personal stories.

“Taya Cook is a principled leader who follows a strong moral compass. In her time in our EMBA program, Taya could always be relied upon for thoughtful comments, reminders about concepts missed, and even some comic relief. She thinks deeply before speaking and provides suggestions that invite further input. Taya also considers minority viewpoints as valuable sources of ideas that can move plans and discussions from satisfactory to excellent. She is a thoughtful leader who exhibits compassion and an admirable adherence to a code based on fairness, opportunity, and an honest voice,” says Prof. John Oesch, Academic Director, Morning & Evening and Executive MBA Programs.

“Part of Kathryn Tinckam passion has been to take what she has learned in class and put it into practice immediately. She chairs Canada’s National Kidney Transplant Advisory Committee for Canadian Blood Services so it was natural that during her program, working in a team of other physicians and researchers, she would draw on her new MBA toolkit to substantially enhance the organ matching process in Canada’s largest province. Her passion stands out to her fellow students. During a mid-program retreat of her MBA program, one of her classmates described her as a ‘powerhouse of empathy and goodness’,” says Prof. Brian Golden, who holds the Sandra Rotman Chair in Health Sector Strategy.

The Rotman School offers a One-Year Executive MBA,a Global Executive MBA for Healthcare and the Life Sciences and the Rotman-SDA Bocconi Global Executive MBA, which spans 4 continents over 18 months, in partnership with the SDA Bocconi School of Management.
