Jan Pilbauer

Bio

As BankservAfrica’s Chief Payments and Innovation Officer, Jan sets our business strategy, leads new business development and strategic partnerships, and oversees payments modernisation in South Africa.

Jan has extensive transformational leadership experience from previous roles in Europe and North America. Before joining BankservAfrica, he designed and led the modernisation of core clearing and settlement payment infrastructure in Canada, including implementation of ISO 20022.

His passion for financial inclusion and how technology can make our world a better place, drives him to work with international organizations and governments, assisting them with setting and executing modernisation strategies and promoting cashless economies. Jan has led experiments with distributed ledger technology and crypto-currencies, and maintains strong ties with the fintech community.
