What surprised you most about your program experience?

I was surprised by how much I was able to learn and absorb in a short span of 12 weeks. The curriculum was taught effectively utilizing practice cases, in-class discussions, assignments, lectures, and case competitions. I honestly do not believe I would have arrived at the same level of depth of accounting knowledge and case-writing skills had I pursued my CPA journey any other way.

What part of the program did you find most challenging?

I found the timed case submissions to be most challenging due to my unfamiliarity with the case-writing format and marking expectations. The timed setting forced me to quickly learn how to recognize assessment opportunities within cases, prioritize tasks, and address my accounting weaknesses in post-case debriefs. Although challenging, I learned the most through these exercises and I would recommend everyone to take up these weekly timed cases intentionally to maximize their growth and learning.

What memory from Summer 2022 will you hold long after completing the program?

I will never forget working in the case room with 5 other brilliant and passionate individuals who were keen to perform and showcase their business acumen and technical accounting knowledge. It was an incredibly memorable and humbling experience, which taught me how to collaborate and adapt in a time-crunched setting.
