Message to graduates from the Dean

To the graduating class of 2022, my sincere congratulations. This is a special moment in your journey through the Rotman School, and I hope you will take time to celebrate your achievements. You have persevered during difficult times, demonstrating enormous compassion and thoughtfulness in adapting to the ever-changing pressures of a global pandemic, while rising to meet the growing social challenges of inequity and injustice.

As you move forward in your career, be sure to follow your interests and passions, remembering that everyone’s journey will differ. Some of you might aspire to run your own business or work in the not-for-profit sector, while others pursue more traditional roles in capital markets. Whatever path you take, your Rotman degree is a lifelong asset that you can draw upon to provide you with the knowledge, agility and confidence you need to open new doors and transform your future.

The pandemic has presented us with many challenges, but it’s also managed to teach us resiliency and the importance of community. During this time, we have seen a growing role for business within society. For Rotman, this has only elevated our core purpose—to create value for business and society—to be a place where extraordinary people come together to rethink assumptions, reinvent models and reimagine solutions.

As you graduate, you join a new community—a network of over 15,000 alumni who live and work in more than 90 countries. I encourage you to stay engaged with your classmates and with Rotman—doing so only helps to enrich the Rotman community and to make your Rotman degree even more valuable. We will be here to support you and cheer you on as you take this next step to make your mark on the world.

Congratulations again. I look forward to seeing you soon at an alumni event near you.
