OSAP funding available for Rotman Executive Programs

February 1, 2022

Improving in-demand skills through Rotman’s Executive Programs just got easier.

Thanks to new funding through the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP), individuals pursuing an executive program at Rotman may be eligible for up to $5,000 in financial support for each program of study.

“Everything we do at Rotman is about expanding and enhancing management practice. With this funding, the sky is the limit on how many people we can reach with our micro-credential programs,” says Stephanie Hodnett, executive director of executive programs at Rotman.

“Individuals without a large budget behind them for professional development can now benefit from our courses.”

The new funding is part of Ontario’s strategy for micro-credentials, which are short, certificate-based professional development courses. They offer a quick pathway to employment, shortening the time it takes for recent graduates or professionals to enter the workforce or advance further in their careers.

As job markets evolve, learners can spend up to six weeks bolstering relevant skills in cybersecurity, digital marketing or organizational leadership, to name a few. Some of the 39 Rotman Executive Programs eligible for OSAP funding — such as Negotiations or Inclusion by Design — span just one week.

“We hope to welcome a brand new set of learners and encourage life-long learning for individuals from all industries and professional backgrounds,” says Hodnett.

“If you’re on a budget or considering a career move, could you benefit from a course that teaches you how to negotiate better or influence others in an organization? Absolutely — almost anybody can benefit from that.”

Rotman Executive Programs offers both classroom-based and live online courses, in addition to a wide variety of asynchronous online programs delivered in partnership with educational technology companies Emeritus and 2U GetSmarter.

“You get the best of both worlds,” Hodnett says.

“Along with access to the videos, you have the course leader to rally you and provide live office hours for support. You're also part of a cohort going through the course at the same time.”
