Rotman Alumni Named as “MBAs to Watch” by Poets&Quants

September 13, 2022

Toronto – Two graduates of the Full Time MBA program at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management were named to the Poets&Quants list of “MBAs to Watch” of highly successful MBA graduates from the Class of 2022, which was published yesterday.

Ronke Akinsola, MBA’22, and Zihan Li, MBA’22, were named to the list, which was derived from nominations from seventy-three global business schools for Poets&Quants annual “Best and Brightest MBAs” feature.  Two other Rotman MBA graduates Cyrena Lockert, MBA’22, and Peter Zhang, DPharm’21, MBA’22, were among the “Best & Brightest,” which was published earlier in the year.

Akinsola participated in numerous events for MBA candidates including the Open House, admissions webinars for African Students and the Future Black Business Leaders Conference. On the careers front, she contributed to an incredibly successful year for students seeking careers in finance particularly as the head of Diversity and Inclusion for the Rotman Finance Association and Co-President of the Rotman African and Caribbean Business Club.

“Ronke’s willingness to champion the Rotman MBA and act as an inspiration to our incoming African students has had a significant impact. As she progresses into the next stage of her career I have no doubt she will remain a valued and committed partner to our community,” said Chris Jones, Assistant Director, Recruitment & Admissions, Rotman Full Time MBA Program.

As the Co-President of The Letters student association, Li brought tremendous support for other LGBTQ+ students and upheld the values of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at Rotman. As a Reaching Out MBA fellow at Rotman, she proactively contacted the Reaching Out organization and took a leadership role in organizing the annual Out Women in Business Conference in 2021, benefiting many industry professionals and MBA students from over 70 business schools globally.

“Zihan’s exceptional emotional intelligence and leadership approach combined with her strong dedication to making a positive impact on others’ lives is truly exemplary. Her commitment to empowering others through education and service is profound that benefits not only her MBA classmates but the next generation of future leaders,” said Agnes Mak, Assistant Director, Recruitment & Admissions, Rotman Full-Time MBA.

Profiles of Akinsola and Li, as well as the main story for “MBAs to Watch” are online.
