Bio

Cindy Chan is an Assistant Professor of Marketing, cross-appointed to the Marketing Area at Rotman from the Department of Management at the University of Toronto, Scarborough. Her research focuses on social relationships, examining the role of experiences, emotions, and gifts in shaping relationships and consumer behaviour.

Professor Chan's research is published in the Journal of Consumer Research and the Journal of Consumer Psychology, and has been featured in popular press outlets including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, NPRThe Globe and Mail, and Scientific American. Her research papers have received the Robert Ferber Award and C.W. Park Best Paper Award. 

Professor Chan teaches Principles of Marketing and has been voted Professor of the Year by the students and awarded a Dean's Merit Award for teaching excellence. Prior to academia, she worked with JWT, developing advertising campaigns for global clients including Johnson & Johnson, Reckitt Benckiser, and Nestle.
