Delivering Transformational Management Education
As online education became a necessity, Rotman has continued to refine and enhance remote learning, all while pursuing curricular innovation and improving equity, diversity and inclusion. Donors have played a crucial role in supporting these efforts.
For instance, the Laidlaw Foundation, alumni, faculty and staff recently came together to increase Rotman’s Black student representation by creating the Rotman African and Caribbean Business (RACBC) Scholarship.
“One of the major barriers preventing access for Black students to top schools like Rotman is lack of access to funding.”
—Wale Oyebanjo, MBA ’20, CFA, MD, past RACBC president, who helped spearhead the scholarship.
Experiential learning continued to play a key role during the last fiscal year. In addition to the Global Consulting Projects, the Onboard Fellowship Program, the CityLab initiative and a New York City Finance Trip, we introduced a Silicon Valley career trek that provided students with the opportunity to network with and learn from executives, staff and Rotman Commerce alumni.
The Rotman School has also expanded student-alumni mentorship opportunities with a new gift from Richard Nesbitt, MBA ’85, and Lucy Lawlor, BEd ’93, establishing the Rotman LEADS Program: Leadership, Exploration, Advice, Development and Success. which helps a significant number of students connect to industry leaders in the GTA.
