Why did you decide to study the GDipPA program?
I knew I would struggle to balance work and studying if I completed modules with CPA Ontario. So, I decided to enroll in the GDipPA program, which allowed me to not only fast track the CPA PEP program but also focus on work once commencing my full-time job. In addition, I preferred studying in a classroom setting as opposed to online courses because it allowed me to learn from and ask questions to world-class professors who have significant work experience in public practice and industry.
What was your top reason for choosing Rotman?
Rotman is one of few schools that accept students from universities other than the University of Toronto. In addition, Rotman is considered to be one of the best business schools in the world and has professors who are respected in their fields. Therefore, I knew Rotman offered a high-quality and competitive program, which gave me the tools to succeed in the CFE.
What was the highlight of the Rotman experience?
The highlight of my Rotman experience was receiving useful tips and advice from professors in class and from experienced teaching assistants during one-on-one case debriefing sessions. My notes from Rotman’s GDipPA program were crucial for my success in writing the CFE.
Did completing the program over the summer before you started work help with your new job?
Absolutely - the GDipPA program helped me with not only my case writing skills but also my technical knowledge. My strong technical base has allowed me to produce high-quality work and work efficiently.
