Please join us for the third session in our series, a panel discussion exploring the impact of the global pandemic on the path to greater value in healthcare. The journey towards value-based care and value-based procurement was making progress prior to March 2020. What has happened since then? How has the pace changed, both locally and globally?

 

About Our Speakers:

 

Neil Fraser is the President of Medtronic Canada and Regional Vice-President - Canada, Medtronic plc, the largest medical technology, services, and solutions company in the world. He is currently a Member of the International Working Group on Global Research, Development & Innovation with the BRG Institute and a Member of the Federal Health and Biosciences Economic Strategy Table (ISED/Health). He was Co-Chair of AdvaMed's Medtech 2020 Virtual Conference, past chair of Medtech Canada, and a former Board Membe of Baycrest Health Sciences. He was also a Member of the federal Advisory Panel on Healthcare Innovation (the "Naylor Report") and the Ontario Heath Innovation Council. He has numerous publications on the topic of healthcare innovation in Canada and is a frequent speaker on the topics of valuebased procurement and outcomes-based healthcare.

 

Dr. Gabriela Prada is a Senior Program Director, Health Systems Policy with Medtronic's Global Government Affairs team. She is a policy expert with 24 years of experience as a physician, management consultant, and administrator. She has done extensive work and has published on health innovation topics. Over the last nine years, Dr. Prada has developed a strong understanding of how tendering practices support value-based health care. She is a skilled facilitator and has presented and facilitated dialogue in these topics in Canada, Barcelona, Moscow, Bratislava, Washington DC, Lisbon, Vienna, and Bogota. She has been supporting change efforts in various jurisdictions as they transition towards value-based health care models. She was recently appointed member of the Expert Panel on Supply Chain in Healthcare, which was tasked to make recommendations to Ontario's Minister of Health to redesign health care supply chain in the province. Sh is a mentor, has a master's degree in health administration from the University of Ottawa, and is a Certified Health Executive. 

 

Yves Verboven is currently heading the Value, Access & Economic Policies at MedTech Europe striving for an innovation friendly ecosystem with timely access innovation and appropriate recognition and rewarding of the value created by Medical Technologies. A focus is given to European legislative and application in fields as value based (innovation) procurement, Health technology assessment, evidence generation and deploying MedTech novel initiatives implementing a change to a value and innovation driven access model. The operationalization of Value Based Health Care as an and the recognition of the Value of (diagnostic) information are high on the agenda.Yves has an applied science and engineering background with further education in Business administration and health economics and has been holding multiple positions within industry heading fist in human evaluation, clinical engineering, Clinical outcomes and health economics outcomes and reimbursement in the field of cardiac rhythms and heart failure management and ophthalmology and is current highly engaged in building out community of practices and partnerships.
