About Me: Prakriti, MMA Class of 2022

Quick info

  • MMA Class of 2022
  • Previous Degree:
    • Bachelor of Engineering, University of Delhi, 2019

Why did you decide to join the Master of Management Analytics program?

I wished to join the MMA program to get a sense of how to correctly implement machine learning algorithms and how to make business impact. My previous experience helped me develop the technical skills required in data science, but I always felt a gap between technical implementation and delivering value to the organization. The MMA program helps to develop the thinking process for understanding business problems and overcoming challenges in the data pipeline for a successful deployment.

Top reason(s) for choosing Rotman:

I chose Rotman and the University of Toronto because the quality of courses and faculty is the best. My previous academic experiences were nowhere close to what I am being taught now in the MMA program. It is highly relevant to what I will be using as a data scientist. The technical-focused structure of the program complements my background and future aspirations very well.

What are you looking forward to the most in the program?

Coming into the program I was most looking forward to the practicum project since it is the most practical application of what we are being taught in class. However, along with the practicum, the learning curve at the MMA program has been so high that I look forward to next year’s more analytics- and machine learning-focused courses as well.

What do you expect to gain in your next 11 months at Rotman?

Being my first formal education in data science and business analytics, I am looking forward to the courses. Even the assignments (though they can be a heavy burden sometimes) are very good practice and highly relevant.
