Why did you decide to join the Master of Management Analytics program?

I’ve always been inclined towards data exploration and visualization, looking at trends and patterns in data and teasing out the stories that lie just beneath the surface. After three years of working as a business intelligence analyst I wanted to take the next step in my career and a master’s degree in analytics felt like the right choice. I was looking for a program that married the technical skills of data analysis with practical applications in a business setting, so it wasn’t long before I came across the MMA and it immediately piqued my interest.

Top reason(s) for choosing Rotman:

Top business school? Check. Comprehensive curriculum? Check. A robust alumni network, diverse class cohort, and a campus located in a culturally-vibrant city? Check, check, check. The Rotman MMA is about as comprehensive a program as one can find, and it has something for everyone.

What are you looking forward to the most in the program?

I am looking forward to the practicum and applying what I learn in the classroom to an actual business problem; the projects from last year’s cohort all looked incredibly interesting and I can’t wait to see what they have in store this year. I am also looking forward to delving deeper into advanced analytics topics such as machine learning and big data, and picking up new coding skills along the way.

What do you expect to gain in your next 11 months at Rotman?

My primary goal is to soak up as much knowledge as I can so by end of the program I have the skills to take a data project from A to Z: in other words, I’d like to know how to identify the problem and data requirements, clean/process the data, and build a model/recommendation system that helps guide people towards an optimal solution. That being said, the world of data science and analytics is vast and keeps expanding, so I’m keeping an open mind on where I’ll end up in a year’s time!
