Paris Air Show 2023

GMI - Paris Air Show (June 18-25, 2023)

 

Twenty MBA students participated in University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management's Global Manager Initiative (GMI), offered through the Rotman Institute for International Business in partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation, and Trade.

Students spent the past few months working closely with many companies in the Ontario Aerospace Industry, and then attended the Paris Air Show June 18-25, 2023 with Ontario based companies to support their efforts. This was an experience of mutual benefit to the MBA student learning experience, the Ontario based companies participating in the Paris Airshow, and advancing the competitiveness of the Ontario Aerospace Industry.

Besnovo Technologies Inc. is a pioneer in advanced industrial automation and laser de-coating solutions for aerospace, automotive, advanced manufacturing and other sectors. Rotman students Eric Zheng and Ka Ho Choi. The students supported the company by gathering customer feedback and requirements, as well as identifying potential long term partnership and collaboration opportunities.

DAIR is a consortium of companies, academic and research institutions, and stakeholders with a shared commitment to strengthen Ontario’s aerospace innovation ecosystem. Rotman students Zexu Huang, Michael Zhou and Enko Koceku developed a survey to better understand the requirements of potential tenants for The Hub.

Horizon Aircraft is an aerospace startup that is currently developing the Cavorite X5 — a new eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) design for the urban air mobility market. Rotman students Sean Wolczyk and Leon Lewis supported Horizon Aircraft at the airshow by building awareness, interest and potential investment. Their efforts were successful, as they helped get Horizon Aircraft on the edition of Flight Global!

Lake Simcoe Airport is a full service facility that offers a modern building, maintains a Commercial Post-Of-Entry status fully serviced by the Canada Border Service Agency and offers serviced and un—serviced land for airside commercial development opportunities. Rotman students William Aung, Hunter Christensen and Vipul Aggarwal created a plan for promoting the facilities over the short to medium term.

MDS Aero is a Tier 1 supplier of turnkey test solutions for gas turbine engines and engine components. Students Giulio Andrea Pacozzi, Ananya Bhattacharya and Jaehyoung Shin researched potential markets, industry trends, technology and green energy.

Shimifrez brings 30 years of experience in precision metal fabrication, precision photo etching and electro-forming and has served over 20 different sectors and industries such as Automotive, Aerospace, Medical instrumentation, Microelectronics. Rotman students Martin Clot, Tianyi Cheng and Shlagha Sharma researched countries and companies for a shortlist of potential targets.

VAC AERO designs and builds vacuum furnace systems and controls with the highest quality standards. Students Enko Koceku and Hunter Christensen assisted the company get ready for the show and worked to increase awareness.
